About the canoe

The spiral figures seen in variations of fiddlehead designs and double-curves carry deeper meanings in Wabanaki culture; according to Adney they were said to have protective properties. This 16-foot canoe is the first of a series of four built for a client who commissioned one for each of his four grandchildren, with the name of each recipient inscribed on the side. Inside beam 29”, depth 11”
